LINDENBAUM PROCESSES FOR INTERNSHIPS -

1. Lindenbaum's internship referral service

Lindenbaum is active in the consulting industry. We are selling consulting services to international internship candidates who want to find an internship in Japan. The consulting fee is currently 3,900 RMB (approx. 460 EUR / 632 USD), payable by the future intern once the internship has been arranged between intern and internship company.

Lindenbaum offers candidates who have been accepted by the partner company in Japan furthermore "help for self-help", information about housing, visa and language school. These additional services are included in the fee of 3,900 RMB.

Our partner companies in Japan are looking for proactive "can-do" interns. No company can be interested in an interns who is not willing to buy a SIM card on her own, or a person who has to be picked up at the airport. Challenges, the small they might be, are one main reason to go to a foreign country. Therefore Lindenbaum offers only "help for self-help". Getting ready on its own is part of the abroad internship experience.

2. Lindenbaum's application process for internships

1. Lindenbaum receives the complete application documents via email. The email contains:

A. One pdf-file with A1. CV with picture, age and all other regular details. A2. Motivation letter for potential internship companies: why Japan?, strengths, interests... (maximum one A4 page). A3. The latest university certificate, if available.

B. The email itself contains the following information: specific tasks and field of internship, preferred city, expectations about the minimum reimbursement amount, begin of internship, time frame.

C. Proof of identity: This procedure has become necessary as we came across some cases of identity theft over the past years where people pretend to be somebody in order to enjoy Lindenbaum's internship consulting service for free. This is a small minority of the people, less then 3 percent, but they made this procedure necessary for the rest: We actually don't recommend anymore to send us a scan of your passport or ID card (in the times of cyber criminality, i.e Heartbleed in 2014, these sensitive data should not be sent via emails), instead use the "Social Media proof of identity procedure": Click on the bottom of this website on one of the Social Media buttons, share this website in your real social media network, take a screenshot and attached it to the application email as PNG or PDF.

Graduates use their regular email address. Students send the documents via University email address to hr[at]lindenbaum.asia - only shortlisted candidates will be notified within two to four working days.

2. If the candidate come to the shortlist selection Lindenbaum gets in touch and asks about specific internship interests and preferences.

3. In some cases an interview with Lindenbaum will be made by phone / Skype.

4. We will get connected to our partner companies which are looking of internship candidates with that specific profile.

5. Normally the interested partner company will be asking for an (skype-) interview in order to get to know the candidate better.

6. If the applicant and the partner company have a mutual agreement that an intership is going to take place then the fee of 3,900 RMB (approx. 460 EUR / 632 USD) has to be paid by bank transfer in USD, EUR, HKD and other major currencies to HSBC Bank in Hong Kong. (The consulting fee is pegged to 3,900 RMB [Chinese Yuan], please check the current exchange rate here.)

3. Native languages / Nationalities of applicants

Most partner companies in Japan are picky about the native language of internship candidates. Applicants for internships should be students or graduates from top universities in Europe, North America, Japan and South-Korea. The majority of our partners in Japan are Western European and North American. Due to the background of our partners and their specific needs, native speakers of English, Finnish, Norwegian, Danish, Swedish, German, Italian, Spanish, Japanese and Korean are currently needed. Applicants whose native language is not one of the above mentioned, need to provide a CPE (Certificate of Proficiency in English) and the scan of a valid visa for the whole period of internship.

4. Internship salary

Since there is a growing number of international students who pay thousands of Dollars to have an unpaid internship experience in the rising cities of Asia (this article sums it up), it is not realistic to pay the moderate fee of Lindenbaum and expect to suddenly earn "real" money as intern. The lower the expectations regarding the internship salary the more likely Lindenbaum will be able to help internship searching clients.

5. Internship candidate clients

In addition to good academic performance Lindenbaum is looking for students and graduates with a high degree of self-motivation, an interest in the host country and its culture, self-confidence, professional etiquette and flexibility.

Our partner companies in Japan are looking for proactive "can-do" interns. A company can not be interested in an interns who is not willing to buy a SIM card on her own, or a person who has to be picked up at the airport, or someone who is not motivated the arrange housing. Challenges, the small they might be, are one main reason to go to a foreign country.

6. When is it not recommended to apply with Lindenbaum

Lindenbaum only accepts applications of students and graduates who are seriously interested in Lindenbaum's service. Applicants misusing the time of our partner companies in Japan will be charged a fee of 3,900 RMB.

Candidates should have gained first internship experience in their home country. Applications which lack internship experience at all, are usually unsuccessful. Unless the candidate speaks Japanese fluently.

7. Responsibilities: Participant / Lindenbaum

Participants have to assure to have enough financial resources to cover the stay in Japan (no matter if the internship company will pay a salary). Lindenbaum expects that applicants have also the financial means to cover the service fee of Lindenbaum. The futural intern has to make sure with the partner company of Lindenbaum what the internship task is all about, this should be written down in a contract / agreement between the futural intern and the partner company of Lindenbaum. The interns, also as a representative of his university, assures to give the best when working in the partner company of Lindenbaum. The intern will cover its own medical insurance and travel insurance during the internship period and will in case of problems during the internship pro-actively inform Lindenbaum about it.

Lindenbaum is responsible to mediate if problems ocurre between intern and the company of internship but Lindenbaum not responsible if the interns is dismissed from the internship position for justified reasons: the fee of Lindenbaum covers in this respect the introduction with the internship partner company and the mediation if problems occure, it is not an assurance to stay in the partner company of Lindenbaum for the whole period of time that might has been mentioned in the contract between the partner company of Lindenbaum and the participant. This subject is a matter of the internship contract between the participant and the partner company of Lindenbaum. In case the participant behaves inappropriately in the partner company of Lindenbaum, Lindenbaum would consider a cancellation of the contract between Lindenbaum and the participant. This has not to effect the internship contract between the intern and the partner company of Lindenbaum. In case the contract between Lindenbaum and the participant is cancelled due to inappropriate behaviour in the partner company, the help for self-help and the mediation will stop.

8. Fee structure / Refunds / Discounts

The consulting fee of 3,900 RMB, paid by the future intern, covers the HR process, the communications of Lindenbaum with the partner company about the internship, the help for self-help for accommodation, language school, as well as the mediation with the partner company of Lindenbaum. No discount can be granted. No refunds can be made (this includes the case of internships which can not take place due to illness of the future intern). Lindenbaum does not "sell" internships but consulting services. The consulting service is fulfilled once the internship candidate and the internship company have found an agreement about to the upcoming internship. The only possibility for a refund is given when the internship company goes bankrupt and Lindenbaum is not able to find another appropriate internship for the intern.
